In addition to laser processing, the setup, containing pulse laser and vacuum chamber, allows direct analysis of the composition of materials. The studies of the basis elements and impurities in solid substances and liquids employ spectral analysis of the laser-induced plasma. The advantages of the proposed approach are as follows:
-
Operating speed – real-time experiments allow 2D surveying of the sample;
-
Sensitivity – the analysis uses only a few cubic micrometers of a substance, emission spectrum features lines typical of a given element at its concentration of tens of ppm.
